Talay Thai

The international flavor of Steamboat Springs has never been so tasty as it is with a visit to Talay Thai. Offering authentic Thai food in casual surroundings and at reasonable prices, this is a spot that you will often find our Grand Adventure Company staff enjoying a midday break and because we recommend it so frequently, many of our guests find their way to its doorstep as well. This guide to the deliciousness that is known as a Talay Thai meal will help you find your way to one of the most popular Thai places in all of Steamboat Springs.

The Restaurant

Located at 2300 Mt. Warner Circle, Closed Mondays

The large photographic mural of blue seas, sandy beaches, and an inquisitive palm tree that seems to be peering down at you, as if to ask “whatcha eating?” adds a tropical flair to our winter wonderland, and on the coldest Colorado days you may find us sitting there, forgetting to eat, wishing we were there. We love the snow, but sometimes the cold is just too cold! In any case, everywhere you look in this cozy establishment you will find something that transports you to the tropics, a palapa umbrella shading a counter that doesn’t need the shade, a carved wood art piece with trumpeting elephants making their presence known, and of course, the delicious scents of authentic Thai food wafting throughout the place. Friendly staff, comfortable seats, and the reminder of warmth and tropical escapes makes Talay Thai one of our favorite places to eat.

The Menu

Living in the Southwest you come to crave the heat of truly spicy food and Talay Thai doesn’t disappoint, but if spice is not your friend, they can back down the heat if necessary. In any case, the meals offered at this spicy spot range from curry to Tom yum soup and promise to bring a cheer to your taste buds. You may not recognize the names of the dishes, including Pad Woon Sen, Hor-Mok Talay, and Kee Mao, but the descriptions on the menu will ensure that you know exactly what you are ordering. Their special menu is ever changing, and if you have ever visited a Japanese restaurant many of the items on their appetizer menu will sound familiar; Edamame, Gyoza, and an Appetizer Platter that encompasses most of the appetizers including egg rolls, crab delight, gyoza, and coconut shrimp all delicious and all worth trying.
