While much of the world is wondering if summer is ever going to end come August, in Steamboat Springs we are celebrating the beginning of autumn as the temperatures start to fall. The leaves aren’t changing color yet, but we’re pretty sure that pumpkin spice coffee is already being sold, and if you are visiting and don’t pack a jacket, you will regret it! Fortunately, if you do forget, the fireplaces in our Grand Adventure Company seasonal sanctuaries will warm you quickly, and this guide to experiencing Steamboat Springs in August will help you enjoy everything our town has to offer.
We Pull Out Our Cowboy Hats and Boots
If it is summer the Steamboat Pro Rodeo, 401 Howelsen Parkway, is the main event, but it ends August 23rd, so be sure to plan your visit before then if you want to experience an authentic Western Rodeo. Offering cowboys and cowgirls participating in all your favorite rodeo events, a barbecue before the night’s show begins, and one of our favorite parts of the rodeo, two fun children’s events, the Ram Scramble (ages 5 and under) and the Calf Scramble (ages 6-12). The kids are so cute and so determined to win that we wish EVERYONE could be declared winners!

We Eat All Our Veggies
The Steamboat Springs Farmers Market is our favorite way of buying the vegetables we eat, offering locally sourced produce that just tastes better than the stuff in the grocery stores. Located on Yampa Street between 5th and 8th, and open every Saturday through mid-September, the Farmers Market also offers locally raised buffalo, chicken, beef, seafood, and trout, as well as baked goods, specialty sauces, and a large number of arts and crafts vendors selling merch that will make great souvenirs and even greater Christmas gifts, if you are organized enough to think about starting your holiday shopping that early!
Wetting Our Lines
The cool mornings are the perfect times to climb into a pair of waders, head to the Yampa River, and cast our lines out into the water. Fly fishing is a big time summer activity in Steamboat, and it may be the only reason you skip the trout purchase at the Farmer’s Market. If you haven’t tried to fly fish before your Steamboat August getaway, Steamboat Flyfisher, 655 Yampa Street Unit C-2, offers guided fishing trips and instruction on how to best cast your line.
We Like to Eat (A LOT)
In our humble opinion, the restaurants of Steamboat Springs are some of the finest in the world and we spend a lot of our time off the clock exploring meal options at some of the best. You may worry about being at a disadvantage, not knowing enough about the restaurants in town, but a food tour can help relieve your mind. Steamboat Springs Food Tours, 635 Lincoln Avenue, offers custom tours that are a bit pricier, but their standard Bite of the Boat Tour is reasonably priced and visits 4-5 restaurants to give you a taste of what you can expect from your vacation. Go back at a later time and revisit your favorites or consider it good and decide to conduct your own food tour at restaurants that didn’t make the tour, leaving town with an authentic taste of Steamboat deliciousness.

Exploring Art
Although summer temps rarely rise above 80 degrees, there can be some days that get a little toasty and on those days, we gravitate to indoor activities, such as visiting the Steamboat Art Museum, located at 801 Lincoln Avenue inside a former bank building. Its most current exhibit, “The Art of Printmaking: Process and Passion, comes to a close on August 31, and offers the works of nearly 45 artists from all over the country. Writers are encouraged to enter The Painted Words, the museum’s 8th annual literary competition & writer’s celebration, an event that takes place on August 5th. Also offering a cute little gift shop selling reproductions of the art that has been exhibited there, it’s another great way to pick up souvenirs to bring back home with you.
And We Relax
Fall and all the craziness that accompanies the season is right around the corner, and if we take a few days in August to sit around the house and do nothing, is anyone really going to judge us? Of course not, no more than we would judge you for daring to do the same thing during your stay, and our seasonal sanctuaries offer many enticements to be lazy. Soaking in a hot tub on the back deck, binge watching movies on supersized state of the art televisions or sleeping in late every day of your stay. Our August accommodations are designed to be the best part of your vacation experience, and we encourage you to spend some time exploring all their wonderful amenities!
Remember the crepe you ate on that street corner in Paris, that street taco you devoured during your adventures in Rocky Point, or that slice of pizza you still swear is the best slice you have ever tasted, eaten during your stay in New York City? The food we eat while on vacation is almost as important as the adventures you experience, and during your visit to Steamboat Springs, we at Grand Adventure Company want to share some of our favorite local bites with you, ensuring that this vacation will be one you long remember. This guide to our favorite must-try summer Steamboat eats will have your taste buds cheering as you begin to salivate and your stomach begins to rumble.
A Cup of Joe from Off the Beaten Path Bookstore & Café, 68 9th St
Although coffee technically isn’t considered a meal, so many travelers skip breakfast but never skip coffee that we feel it should be grandfathered in, and a cup of joe at Off the Beaten Path Bookstore & Café is where we are starting our epicurean explorations. The coffee might not be the star of the show in this eclectic bookstore, but just like those earrings you purchased added the right amount of bling to your “OOTD” (outfit of the day to those without TikTok) the coffee served here is the perfect accessory to the books you will not be able to resist buying. Also offering a yummy selection of pastries, spending a couple of hours sipping iced coffee, devouring every crumb of your cream cheese brownie, and browsing the aisles of the bookshop that reminds us why we still need books when eReaders are in existence, might be the adventure you remember most.
Plate-Sized Pancakes from the Shack Café, 740 Lincoln Avenue
The plate-sized pancakes of the Shack Café will certainly push all thoughts of Paris crepes from your brain, offering a fluffy treat to help get your brain functioning in the morning. (Although the Shack Café does serve breakfast all day.) The pancakes are literally the size of dinner plates and can be stuffed with your favorite fruit or chocolate chips, or can be enjoyed the way nature intended, plain and drowned in maple syrup! Kids will be delighted by their “Mouse” pancakes, the ears made with dollar-sized pancakes, banana slices and blueberries as eyes, a chunk of strawberry for the nose, and more blueberries lined up in a smile.
Happy Hour at Café Diva, 1855 Ski Time Square Drive
Happy hour is summer’s version of après ski, and Café Diva is where you will find us from 5-6 PM in both seasons. Serving smooth wines and delectable bites that include a charcuterie plate, which we feel is the best light meal for summer, your happy hour at Café Diva may roll over into dinnertime, and a menu that is destined for greatness. Seared scallops are one of our favorite summer treats, and we always are sure to save room for the Diva’s key lime pie ice cream sandwich!
Rocky Mountain Chili at Stonewall, 685 Marketplace Plaza # C-1
Ok, you got us. Chili is usually considered more of a fall or winter dish, but in Steamboat Springs, the temperatures can drop into the 60s in the evenings, so chili is a year-round dish to us, and the version served at Stonewall may be our favorite. Made with Colorado bison & elk and served with cheddar cheese, cornbread, and house-pickled jalapeños, when you want to spice up your day a bit, nothing does it better than Rocky Mountain Chili from this wonderful eatery. Their summer salad is a good choice for those seeking something lighter, made with arugula, charred broccoli, grilled corn, almonds, bacon, and served with a lemon parmesan vinaigrette.
Step into the Past with a Shake From Lyon’s Corner Drug & Soda Fountain, 685 Marketplace Plaza # C-1
Back in the day, first dates were usually enjoyed at a soda fountain counter, sharing a milkshake with two straws, and today, your Steamboat Springs adventures will let you continue that tradition with a stop at Lyon’s Corner Drug & Soda Fountain. Lyon’s opened its doors for business in the 40s, but there has always been a pharmacy on this spot since the 1920s, and the history of Steamboat is steeped in every inch of floor space in the business. Also offering a savory menu of sandwiches and soups, guests can enjoy an authentic flavored soda, banana splits, sundaes, or, of course, a milkshake or malt, a tasty summer treat.
Your Secret Family Potato Salad, at Home with Grand Adventure Company
Your secret family recipe for potato salad will stay a secret as you putter around our fully equipped kitchens, gathering the ingredients to prepare the dish that makes your family think of home. Reserve your favorite summer sanctuary today!
We don’t always have a lot of time to play, but that’s ok, sometimes all you need is a day (and a night) to play hard and regain your inner peace, especially when that day trip takes you to Steamboat Springs and ends (or begins) with a stay in our Colorado sanctuaries. Offering a joyful and exciting retreat from real life, your 24 hours in our favorite place may even convince you to come back for a longer stay later, something we don’t mind at all. This guide to planning a day trip Steamboat Springs CO rentals will help you fill in every one of the 1440 minutes, giving you a 24-hour adventure that you will remember forever!
Sunrise Over the Mountains
This first adventure can happen at the end of your stay or at the very beginning, so we will start with the beginning, inviting our guests to check in the night before, rise early, and experience the natural phenomenon that most people won’t experience all that often in their lifetimes. For some people, rising before the sun is the only way to live, but for most of our travelers, sleep is more important. On this morning, however, we urge you to discover the peace and serenity that accompanies a sunrise over the mountains, rolling out of bed and out to the deck of your country retreat—after remembering to bundle up first! Mornings, even in the summer, can be frosty, but in spite of the cold, this is the moment that will become one of your most treasured memories. The dark sky, so inky black you can barely even make out the shadow of the mountains, morphing into dusky gray and then a kaleidoscope of fiery colors that will take your breath away before settling on azure blue and gold—this sunrise sets the stage for a day filled with adventure and wonder.

Breakfast of Champions
After that incredible sunrise, you have two options on what you can do next, but they both end up taking you to the same place. You can climb back in bed for another hour or two, ensuring that you get enough sleep, before officially starting your day of fun in Steamboat with a big breakfast at Creekside Café, 131 11th Street, for option number 1. Or since you are already awake, you can get dressed and head over to Creekside Café for a big breakfast for option number 2. See? Two options, same eventual outcome, including the part where you walk out of Creekside after the meal feeling full and ready to explore more of what Steamboat Springs has to offer! And if you are planning an extra strenuous activity, carb loading with their Wafflelaughagus breakfast (malted waffle topped with sausage gravy and cheddar jack, served with two eggs, breakfast potatoes, and your choice of meat) will make you smile as it gives you the strength you need to complete whatever adventures that are in store for you!
A Fork in the Road
For most adventures in most towns, your adventures will be the same no matter what season you are visiting, but Steamboat Springs is a mountain town, and the difference between cold-weather activities and warm-weather activities is extreme. And so, we have reached a fork in the road on your journey to Steamboat, one road taking you to long days filled with sunshine, warmth and adventures without coats, and the other taking you to short days filled with sunshine but cold temperatures that necessitate bundling up.
The Road Much Warmer
Summer in Steamboat Springs is a joyous time, offering all the sunshine and warmth you may not have expected from a summer in the mountains while still offering that touch of chill that will make you appreciate fireplaces and hot cocoa, even in July. This is when we can really enjoy playing outside, savoring the carefree days and the exciting adventures listed below.

Yampa River Festival, End of May, 1st of June
The Yampa River is the star of the summer show, offering a two-day festival that includes exciting events such as the State of the Yampa address, the Adam Mayo Memorial Fish Creek Kayak Race, and the Main Event, which includes river races, raft rodeos, a Family Fun Zone, and our favorite activity, the Crazy River Dog, in which our fur babies leap into the water and swim to their humans waiting at the D-hole! The fastest pup wins the prize, but all the pooches win the best dog award, at least in our hearts!
Steamboat Pro Rodeo, Friday and Saturday Nights, July and August
The west will be wild again when you attend the Steamboat Pro Rodeo, starting at 7:30 most nights (6:30 on the 4th of July) and offering all you would expect including bronco busting, bull riding, barrel racing, and fun kids’ events that will amaze you if your family hasn’t spent much time on horses in its lifetime. Every evening begins with a delicious barbecue, and if you are visiting on the 4th, will end with a really cool drone show! (Fireworks are forbidden in the summer months.)
Horseback Riding, Fishing, or Hiking
We started with the festivals for your summer day trip in Steamboat Springs, but what if you are visiting when there is no special event? Does that mean you won’t have anything to do? Of course, it doesn’t, and as you choose between horseback riding with Saddleback Ranch (37350 Co Rd 179), with most rides lasting between 1-3 hours, guided fishing trips with Steamboat Fly Fisher (655 Yampa Street Unit C-2), offering trips that are either half- or full-day excursions, or just decide to take an easy hike to Fish Creek Falls, maybe enjoying a picnic as you do, your summer day trip to Steamboat Springs will be one that dreams are made from!

Let’s Take the Cold Road
A day trip to Steamboat Springs in the winter is probably going to involve one very exciting activity. Of course, you are going to ski, and Steamboat Ski Resort is one of the most popular ski destinations in the country, famous for its champagne powder. Offering 23 lifts, 182 trails, and over 3700 acres of skiable terrain, the mountain is where you will spend much of your day, either skiing or snowboarding, as both are allowed here. Its longest run is called Why Not, stretching out over 3 miles, and because your time here is limited (and we hope you come back later for a much longer visit), you will probably not want to leave the mountain, but will want to enjoy lunch at one of the restaurants that sit slopeside. Hazie’s, located at the top of the gondola, is one of our favorite restaurants, and we invite you to check it out for yourself.
When Your Day Goes to the Dogs
Not everyone is into skiing, but pretty much everyone loves dogs, and the thrill seekers in our group can combine a love for adventure and adoration of fur babies with the opportunity to take a dog sled ride at Grizzle-T Dog & Sled Works, located at 1115 Co Rd 205. Offering the chance to “mush” your own dog team, which includes cuddle time and hot cocoa after the tour, the memories you make during this adventure will be soft, furry, and filled with love.
Steamboat Winter Carnival in February
Of course, we celebrate the season with a five-day winter carnival, offering everything from kids on skis to adults on snow shovels being pulled down Main Street! Also offering parent/child relays, snow sculptures, a Friday night soiree, and so many other activities and events, if you didn’t like winter before attending the festival, you’re sure to come out on the other end falling madly in love with the season. Ski Ballet, Nordic Jumping, pancake parties, and the Diamond Hitch Parade are more examples of the fun you will have during your winter day trip to Steamboat Springs during Winter Carnival.
Strawberry Park Hot Springs, 44200 Co Rd 36
Although snow, ice, and below freezing temperatures are the norm during a Steamboat winter, there are a few ways to stay warm, including one very natural one, a visit to Strawberry Park Hot Springs. 4-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive with chains or snow tires are required for this visit, (they do offer a shuttle if your rental car doesn’t come with either) but once you arrive and see the steam rising off the 101- to 106-degree mineral waters, you will forget all about the drive. Strawberry Park has built a little paradise here, utilizing stone and other natural materials that blend into the beautiful backdrop that is a Colorado landscape, and although children are allowed in the daylight hours, after dark it is adults only, offering a more romantic experience that you so richly deserve.
Ice Fishing, Snowmobile Rides, and Snowshoeing with the Family
There really is a lot to do in Steamboat Springs once the mercury drops, and whether you are sitting in a hut on the ice with the business end of your fishing line floating in the water of the hole carved out of the ice (Steamboat Ice Fishing Charters is a good place to start), touring the countryside on a snowmobile with Steamboat Snowmobile Tours, or taking a snowshoeing tour with Steamboat Lake Outpost, your winter dreams are all about to come true!

A Meal to Remember
Before you head back to the place you started your journey earlier this morning, end your time in Steamboat Springs with a meal you will never forget at Café Diva. Located at 1855 Ski Time Square Drive and offering an all-American menu filled with elevated dining options, it doesn’t matter what season you’re visiting; dinner here will be exactly what your special occasion deserves! Offering a strong wine menu and some classic cocktails that are perfect for toasting, the menus change with the season, but they only change for the better.
A Night You Will Never Forget
We sincerely hope that your day trip will include at least one night exploring the luxury and comfort of our Grand Adventure Company vacation retreats. But if a day is all you have, we would like to extend an invitation for you to return another time, when you can stay and enjoy all the wonderful amenities we offer, the peace we provide, and the joy that only comes from staying in the most comfortable and welcoming vacation accommodations. We’ve added a little more detail about what to expect from our spaces below, hoping to entice you to return!

But then you realize that our spaces provide access to all the community amenities (pools, hot tubs, grill areas) as well as the comfortable furnishings, high-end appliances, and stunning views offered inside, and all your fears and worries will be assuaged.
Vacation Homes for Your Larger Traveling Group
More is merrier when you choose our vacation homes for your Colorado rentals, offering private hot tubs, fully equipped kitchens, and more of those views you are soon going to crave. Our homes are designed to make families feel comfortable and at home when they are many, many miles away from their own homes, and will be an integral part of your vacation experience.
Reserve Your Favorite Escape Today
Whether it is for a day, a week, or even a month at a time, our properties will offer respite and serenity to everyone who resides within. Book your favorite property today!
Although Steamboat Springs may not be the first place you think of for a summer vacation destination, chances are you probably think of it when the snow starts to fall, but we at Grand Adventure Company want to change your thought process. Steamboat Springs in the summer is a magical time of year, offering the best of the season without all that sticky heat you may be used to in your hometown, and as the landscape comes to life, the lush green of the trees canopies, cool and clear water running through creeks, rivers, lakes, and ponds, and fields of wildflowers begin to bloom in a profusion of color, you will fall in love. And that love affair will continue when you step inside our Steamboat Springs summer rentals for the first time, offering comfort, style, and a long list of summer amenities that will spoil and ensure that your summer adventures at home will be as wonderful as the ones you experience in Steamboat Springs.
Ceiling Fans
Designers hate them and chances are you won’t need the ones that can be found in most bedrooms, but ceiling fans are wonderful for circulating the air and keeping a space from getting too stuffy, especially on a rare hot day in Colorado. Temperatures rarely rise above 83 degrees, but there can be some warmer days that will make you appreciate the gentle whirring of ceiling fan when you climb into our oh so comfortable beds at night, or in the daytime if a nap sounds like something that would be refreshing.
Televisions, Home Theaters, and Comfy Seats
You’re going to spend a lot of your daylight hours hiking through the trees and up the mountains, fly fishing, maybe even mountain biking, and after a delicious dinner, relaxing at home in front of the television may be your next favorite summer activity. The televisions in our properties will be modern pieces, slim, flat, and generously sized, making you feel as if you are living out the adventure you are watching on the screen and in some of our luxury retreats, you may even find a home theater. Super-sized movie screens and either leather recliners with cup holders or cozy sectionals, either providing the coziest spots to sink into and lose yourself in the magic on the screen. Watching a summer blockbuster after a long day of physical activity is one of those activities that are as important to your successful vacation as the adventures you experience during your travels.

Coffee, Tea, Margaritas, Beer, or Wine?
Staying hydrated in the summer months may be the most important piece of advice the experts give, but we’re not sure if they consider the type of hydration we are about to discuss as essential. (We certainly do, though!) Our heart of the home kitchens can offer all the best ways to sip and savor, including coffee makers, Keurigs, or in some cases, coffee bars, and because no one wants to drink a warm white or sip a tepid beer, wine chillers (doubling as beer fridges) may be installed in the kitchen of your retreats. Start your morning with an iced coffee, move on to wine or beer with your lunch, and finish off your summer day with frothy margaritas made with the blenders that may be resting on the counter or in the cabinet in our big, beautiful kitchens! Summer is more relaxing when you are sipping your favorite beverages, and our properties offer many options to make it easy to do so.
Game Rooms or Game Tables
Entertainment at home is as important as relaxation and comfort, and our seasonal sanctuaries may also offer more ways to play, including game rooms that may be equipped with a variety of gaming tables (pool, foosball, ping pong), arcade games (how long has it been since you’ve played Ms. Pacman?), even video game consoles and super-sized televisions to play your favorite video games. If the consoles aren’t the ones you like or aren’t offered in the escape you’ve chosen, bring your own; there will be plenty of televisions throughout the house you can connect to, offering a relaxing way to spend a rainy night, a lazy afternoon, or any other time you decide to stay in and play.

A Sauna to Remember
A sauna can provide many health benefits in addition to providing another place to relax and yes, you guessed it, we offer saunas in some of our retreats as well. There’s not a lot we can say about a sauna, other than you will really appreciate it after a long hike and you will feel your blood pressure start to lower, your neck muscles will unkink, and your shoulders will drift back down to where they belong, not cramped up against your ears! Most saunas will be found inside your vacation home, (Surprise! That door doesn’t lead to a closet like you thought.) but some might rest on the back deck or tucked away in the corner of the yard; it just depends on the property you chose.
Exterior Excitement
We have taken much of the page to discuss all the interior summer amenities you should look out for when seeking a seasonal escape in Steamboat Springs, but do the amenities all end at the door? Absolutely not, our backyard areas offer many more amenities that will increase your delight in our properties, offering more ways to play, more ways to relax, and more things that you may not have thought to ask for in a summer sanctuary!

Sit and Savor
The first thing you should expect to find outside your Colorado escape is, of course, places to sit. For larger homes, you may discover multiple seating areas spread out over multiple layers of deck, including large outdoor sectionals designed to provide a cozy place to talk as you relax. There may also be rocking chairs lined up where views of the sunset are best, porch swings that encourage snuggling under the full moon, or lounge chairs where you can lay out and soak in the rays of the sun. The Colorado sun is bright year-round, and you may be surprised to return home with a nice golden tan if you spend enough time lounging on the lounge chairs. The abode of your dreams may offer a private deck off the primary suite, furnished with a couple of chairs and a small table for setting down your beverages in between sips. And most, if not all, will offer outdoor dining options—small bistro sets in our smaller properties, large patio tables surrounded by chairs in our larger escapes—both designed to give our guests the ultimate in outdoor dining experiences.
Barbecues Are Important Too
A backyard barbecue may have its origins in Europe and South America, but Americans have perfected the activity with the invention of the kettle grill (Geroge Stephen) and the creation of charcoal briquettes, created by Edward Kingsford, a relative of Henry Ford. But the invention of the propane grill by Don McGlaughlin in the 1930s made it easier than ever before to enjoy a backyard barbecue. So, of course, our summer sanctuaries will offer either a charcoal or gas grill, encouraging guests to stay outside longer and savor the beauty of a summer day and sunset. Some may even offer outdoor kitchens, ensuring that you can do all your cooking outside if you want, but our indoor kitchens are so beautiful we hope that you enjoy both during your summer adventures in Steamboat.
Firepits or Outdoor Firepits
Cool nights are meant to be spent gathered around a firepit, listening to the sounds of nature and searching for shooting stars in the expansive Colorado skies. We don’t think we have to explain in depth when we suggest you add marshmallows, chocolate bars, and graham crackers to your shopping list. Nor do we have to tell you that as you sit making the best dessert ever (another all-American invention) ghost stories will be told, family stories will be shared, and more than a few dad jokes will be groaned over, especially as dad never seems to run out of them!
What About a Swimming Pool?
Now if this were the desert you would expect a pool in every yard, but honestly it rarely gets warm enough to enjoy a swim, unless the pool is heated. With that being said, however, many of our condo communities do offer a community pool, enabling visitors to enjoy another popular summer experience, especially as the pools will be heated. Your favorite pool activity may be relaxing in the lounge chairs that surround the clear waters, sipping a tropical beverage (frozen margaritas are a typical Southwestern treat) while you watch your kids splash about. If that is the case, our condos will be perfect, offering you access to the community pool as part of the amenities offered.

Hot Tubs
Hot tubs are big out here and even our smaller condos may offer a private hot tub on a large deck, but if not, you know that there will be community ones, often located near the pool. There is something wonderful about soaking in a hot tub for a bit, then crossing the deck to swim in the heated pool for a bit more and continuing to go back and forth until your fingers and toes are wrinkly and pale. A private hot tub, however, offers an experience that will be memorable, soothing aching muscles and offering a tranquility and peace that may be best enjoyed with a chilled glass of chardonnay. The jets may make it difficult to hear your soaking partner talk, but that’s ok, the quiet will be refreshing and there’s always time to talk later before falling asleep in our most comfortable beds.
Air Conditioning
While many of our Steamboat Springs summer retreats do not include traditional air conditioning, you’ll find that it’s rarely needed thanks to the area’s naturally cool mountain climate. Even during the occasional warm afternoon, temperatures typically drop in the evening, allowing for restful, breezy nights. Simply opening a window invites in fresh alpine air, keeping things comfortable and helping you truly connect with the crisp, refreshing environment unique to Colorado summers.

Today’s guide to getting a head start on your summer vacation in Steamboat Springs will bring a little extra light into the days, weeks, and months you have left before your trip of a lifetime!
Packing for Summer in Steamboat Springs
Packing for vacation can raise some huge feelings of anxiety and can also lead to some hefty overweight limit fees because you couldn’t help yourself, you threw everything in your closet into your case, simply because you might need it. This list of what you should pack, however, should lighten your load and because there are washers and dryers in our summer sanctuaries, you can safely pack even less, leaving room for souvenirs and gifts you purchase during your shopping adventures in Steamboat Springs.
Layers is the word of the day, so pack your shorts, your tees, even those darling sundresses you couldn’t stop yourself from buying online, and don’t forget a jacket—waterproof so it can double as a raincoat on a beautiful rainy day. Flip flops are ok for shopping and maybe dining, but if you are planning on doing any hiking, comfortable and sturdy hiking shoes are a must and because the sun is brighter than you realize, sunscreen, sunglasses, and sunhats are highly recommended as well! And don’t forget a swimsuit as there may be hot tubs on the back deck of your retreat and a visit to the hot springs should be listed on your itinerary.

Plan on a Day at Strawberry Park Hot Springs
Strawberry Park Hot Springs is located just about 7 miles north of your summer sanctuary, providing a unique adventure that is reputed to have health benefits as well. Helping to improve circulation, skin issues, lower blood pressure, while also offering cardiovascular benefits the waters, heated by geothermal energy that comes from deep within the earth’s center, may be your favorite part of your Colorado vacation experience.
Costing $20 for two hours’ worth of soaking (Credit Card & cash only), you should probably schedule a visit early into your stay, as they are reservations only right now. Eliminate any lingering travel aches and pains so you can get to the business of having a good time!
Plan to Play Outside
Before now, you may have thought of Steamboat Springs as primarily a winter vacation destination, but we think that will change once you experience all you can do in the summer months. Hiking along many of the trails you explored on skis, biking up and down the mountain, even kayaking, canoeing, and/or SUP, on Steamboat Lake will keep you energized and awed, especially as you get to do all of the above while surrounded by the beauty of our town.
Fly fishing is another popular summer sport and if you are unsure of your skills in this area, you may want to consider a guided fishing tour offered by Steamboat Flyfisher, located at 655 Yampa Street Unit C-2. And finally, experience the golf vacation of your dreams as you play a round or two at Haymaker Golf Course, located at 34855 U.S. Highway 40 and resting in the shadows of the mountains.
Feed Your Soul While Filling Your Stomach
In our daily lives, we often eat out of necessity, foregoing special and sticking to the tried, the true, and the truly simple to prepare, but during your Steamboat Springs travels, we think you should eat for all the right reasons.

Our mountain town is a foodie’s paradise and whether you are devouring the burgers at the Backdoor Grill, 825 Oak Street, celebrating something special at Primrose, 1110 Yampa Street #100, or are pleasantly surprised by the portion sizes at Winona’s Restaurant & Bakery, 617 Lincoln Avenue we can pretty much assure you that EVERY bite will be your favorite. Don’t forget to explore the dessert options at Inclusions Bakery and Dessert Bar, 685 Marketplace Plaza # C-8; with all the outdoor activities you will be participating in you will have earned a sweet treat!
Expect to Relax as Hard as You Play
Our Grand Adventure Company seasonal sanctuaries will be waiting to greet you with warmth, luxury, and comfort every night of your stay, ensuring that you will feel rested and recharged every morning. Offering quiet luxury and simple pleasures, our properties are designed to be an integral part of your vacation in Steamboat Springs. Reserve your favorite today!
Everyone celebrates the Easter holiday a little differently, with some focusing on the sunrise service and Easter brunch, others focusing on the Easter Bunny, baskets, candy, and Easter brunch, and still others making their way to Steamboat Springs, ready to celebrate in all those ways, while adding in end of ski season festivities to the mix, and of course, Easter brunch! There is no wrong way to celebrate the holiday, but if you are in the last group and are planning an Easter Steamboat Springs getaway as well as a stay in our Grand Adventure Company holiday hideaways, we’ve got you. This guide to plans you can make as you are going about your everyday lives will brighten your days and make your workload seem a little more bearable.
Pack for a Winter Steamboat Springs Getaway
Easter is arriving a little later than normal this year, hopping onto the scene on April 20th, and the calendar does say it is spring, but in the mountains, winter lingers. So wear your winter coat on the plane (it makes a good pillow and takes up far too much space in your suitcase) and wear your warmest boots. Your suitcase is going to be fuller than normal, simply because winter clothes are bulkier, but you won’t need to pack an Easter basket, even if you are travelling with children, because it just makes more sense to pick one up while you are in town.
Children are good at discovering your secrets, and if you aren’t ready for them to know about your alter ego, the Easter Bunny, you don’t want to carry a basket that is just going to get crushed during your travels. As you can imagine, there is a Walmart in Steamboat Springs, and everything you were going to purchase back home can be acquired with one stop at the store, saving you space in your luggage and lessening the odds of your kids’ Easter being ruined.

There isn’t a lot of info out there yet about which restaurants are serving Easter brunch this year, but going off last year’s celebration we are pretty sure you will be able to enjoy a wonderful brunch at Creekside Café, located at 131 11th Street. Even if they don’t serve something inspired by the holiday, they will be open and serving delicious brunch options, ensuring your family will enjoy every bite. Last year’s menu, however, included smoked prime rib, Colorado lamb skillet, salmon carpaccio, and a heavenly cinnamon roll French toast that we still dream about nearly 12 months later and we are keeping our fingers crossed that it will still be on the menu.
End of Ski Season Excitement
The end of ski season is always a time for mixed feelings for us, we love the slopes and are sad to see our time on them end, but the events and activities that take place this time of year are fun and help take some of the sting out of the parting. Additionally, this year we get to add Easter into the equation, pushing aside even more of our tears of sadness, so you should be truly excited to celebrate with us.
Offering barbecue, live music, games, head to head races, and a DJ spinning the music that will make you dance, the entire weekend is one of celebration, and although we hate to see the end of the season, we love to celebrate it! If your Easter visit is an extended one and you are joining us the weekend before the holiday, be sure to check out the Pond Skim event in which skiers speed down the slope and try to skim over the icy pond that is at the bottom, held on April 13th. Spoiler alert, most fall in the cold, cold, waters!

The beginning of the new year makes you believe in possibilities. The possibility that 2025 will be the best year, the possibility that there may be some major changes that takes place in these next 12 months, and the possibility that you will be able to spoil your loved one with a Steamboat Springs Valentine’s Day journey and a stay in one of our Grand Adventure Company romantic retreats. This guide to the latter possibility will help earn you a reputation as the best gift giver of all time during your unforgettable romantic Colorado adventures.
Let Her Sleep
Breakfast in bed is a tradition that still holds up, so let her sleep in! While you are stocking the pantry and refrigerator at the beginning of your stay, be sure to include breakfast items that you know she will enjoy and don’t forget a bottle of champagne and a jug of her favorite juice because no Valentine’s Day breakfast in bed would be complete without a mimosa on the tray!
First Tracks with Your First and Only Choice
If your Valentine isn’t much for lounging about in bed, you may want to consider purchasing a first tracks lift ticket that allows you both to experience the bliss of fresh powder during your skiing adventures. The beauty of the mountain, the quiet of your surroundings, and being able to lead the way down the slope on the first run of the day is an adventure that will not soon be forgotten. First track lift tickets should be purchased in advance, as there are a limited number available and Valentine’s Day is a very popular ski day.

To Know Her Is to Spoil Her
Your Valentine is one of those people who always puts herself last, and on this special day you will make sure to put her first with a spa experience at Waterside Day Spa & Salon. Located at 1110 Yampa Street #110 and open every day at 9 AM, this day spa has been a favorite in the area for over 15 years and is first on our list of recommendations. Offering an extensive list of services that spoil every bit of her from head to toe, if you can bear to spare her for the entire day (or at least 6.5 hours of the day), we encourage you to explore the Day of Decadence package. Beginning with an exfoliating body polish, AromaFlex massage, and lunch in their salt suite, the spoiling continues into the afternoon with an oxygenating facial, brow shaping, and an alpine arnica pedicure. She will feel like a new woman at the end of her day, but if you can’t spare her for that long, maybe you will find the Spaaah for Two more to your liking. This package includes a Signature massage (60 minutes) Signature Facial, and some time spent in their Halotherapy salt suite, with the option of adding lunch, all of which is meant for two.
A Little Ice in Steamboat Springs on Valentine’s Day
Although there will be plenty of the cold stuff on the ground (and maybe even in the trees) during your winter escape to Steamboat Springs for Valentine’s Day, the ice we are discussing today is the kind that glitters on her fingers. If you are considering making your Valentine yours forever or are just wanting to spoil her even more, the Jeweler’s Mine, located at 118 8th Street, should be next on your day of sumptuous treats. Engagement, promise, or just because rings, gemstone jewelry, even elk ivory handmade creations, pretty much any shiny piece you can imagine graces the shelves of this stunning store, any of which will make your Valentine feel spoiled and treasured.

A Feast for Your Senses
The time-honored tradition of a romantic meal on Valentine’s Day has become a tradition because it works, and there are many options for romance and food in the Steamboat Springs area, including Harwig’s. Located at 911 Lincoln Avenue, this French restaurant offers meals created with locally sourced ingredients and is famed for its tasting menu, created custom for you and your Valentine when you complete their “palate profile.” Also offering a chef’s pairing menu, her elevated dining dreams will come true, adding another romantic chapter to your own personal love story.

With winter in full swing, the streets of Steamboat Springs can get crowded and not just because Steamboat Resort is open for business. The restaurants seem to make their best meals when the temps are in the snowy zone and the downtown shops are filled with all manner of wonderful things, items that once you see you won’t be able to get them out of your mind until they are in your pocket. And what about the event schedule? We at Grand Adventure Company are thrilled to tell you about two of our favorite Steamboat Springs events that take place in the month of February, the Winter Carnival and Winter Wondergrass Festival, both of which will enhance your stay, a stay that is already pretty great because you are staying with us.
Steamboat Springs Winter Carnival, February 5 Through February 9, Various Locations
Winter can be harsh in this part of Colorado and 112 years ago it was even worse. Central heating had yet to be invented and although more people were starting to drive cars (which didn’t have heaters either) the major mode of transportation was horse and carriage. Being cold all of the time is exhausting, and the gunmetal gray hue of winter skies could be most depressing, and some wise soul thought as winter draws nearer to its end, a good party should be held to celebrate, and Winter Carnival was born. Today, the festival is one of the most popular Steamboat Springs events, offering five days of events, entertainment, food, and beverage, and serving as a most delightful celebration of the season.
Steamboat Cross Country Parent/Child Relay, Airbag Demonstrations, and More!
Cross country skiing, also known as Nordic skiing, is popular in Steamboat and the Cross-Country Parent/Child Relay will give you a fun opportunity to discover why on the first day of the festival. On other days, there will be remaining ski opportunities, either to watch or to participate in, including a thrilling demonstration of freestyle, free skiing, and snowboarders all showing off their magic skills. The Powder Tools Community Jam Session, Family Duals, and ski jumping and ski ballet offer more ways to celebrate the snow, are just a few ways you can enjoy the snowy adventures.

Snow Sculpture Viewing, S’More Family Fun Party, First Friday Art Walk
The five days of the festival are jam packed with celebratory activities, so many we can’t even begin to list them all here. Check out the work of talented snow sculptors, enjoy a sweet treat with your family, and because this takes place during the first Friday of the month, the First Friday Art Walk will appeal to your cultured side.
The Main Street events that take place on Saturday & Sunday offer a plethora of activities the whole family will love, with perhaps the most exciting being the horses that pull kids around on skis and snowboards. A pancake breakfast will be loved by all, and the Night Extravaganza lights up the night with a procession of skiers showing off while illuminated by flares and LED lights.
Winter Wondergrass Festival, February 28th through March 2nd
The beauty of winter continues to be celebrated with this second festival of February, the Winter Wondergrass Festival, this three-day festival adds an incredible lineup of musicians appearing on multiple stages across town. Grass after Dark is an add-on event, continuing the performances at local venues late into the night, and its Annual Thursday night dinner known as the mountaintop dinner, will introduce guests to the delights of mountain views, delicious food, and even more live entertainment.
Camp Coletrain workshops explore the wonder of acoustic guitars. And although it will cost to attend most of the activities listed here, on Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday, guests can experience the joy of music in the form of a selection of free concerts held at the base of the Gondola from noon to 5 PM on Thursday and at Thunderhead Lounge from 11 AM to 1 PM on Saturday and Sunday. A kids’ zone, ski opportunities, and an overwhelming since of fun, peace, and happiness will be yours when you attend the Winter Wondergrass Festival.

Dreaming about vacations is one of our favorite hobbies, but when it comes time to book the flight, plan the activities, and book the accommodations, reality can be daunting as the expenses begin to add up. Fortunately, on February 5th this year, you can take care of obtaining the accommodations for your upcoming Steamboat Springs vacation getaway by booking directly with Grand Adventure Company and saving a little money as you do. February 5th is Book Direct Day, and we are excited to share all the reasons booking directly through our website will be the only way you ever want to reserve your home sweet vacation home from here on out!
Stimulating the Economy
We have all gotten used to letting our fingers do the walking to those other companies—you know, the ones with all those initials in their names? But when you book through one of those third-party platforms, your money mainly goes in the pockets of big businesses in states you may never even visit. When you book directly with Grand Adventure Company, you are shopping local, stimulating the economy, and creating a circle of success that is filled with infinite possibilities, including new restaurants, shops, and fun things to do when you return.

Flexible When It Counts
Life is filled with uncertainty, and even when you try to carefully plan out every detail, things happen. Some can be good, like that time when you were able to catch an earlier connecting flight which enabled you to start your vacation sooner. Some can be not so good, like that time you forgot to set your alarm on the last day of your vacation and slept in past checkout time. These things happen, we understand and because you booked direct from us, with a phone call or text we can work with you when possible, maybe letting you check-in a little early or extending checkout time a little later, something those larger companies with their rigid rules and inflexible regulations just won’t be willing to do.
Personally Yours
Steamboat Springs is one of our favorite places on earth, and we count ourselves lucky that a big part of our job involves sharing our passion about what makes this area so special with visitors who come in from all over the world. We can tell you about the best restaurants for celebrating a special occasion, the shops that sell the warmest and the cutest sweaters, and we can inform you on the ways you can obtain a first track pass at the ski resort, and as you ski through fresh powder, you will be thankful for the personal touch we provided. When you choose a third-party platform from which to book, that personal touch doesn’t exist; the companies aren’t even located in the area you are exploring, and if they do share some info with you, can you even trust it is accurate?

Book Direct, Save Money On Your Steamboat Springs Vacation
Next, we arrive at the best reason of all for booking direct, the money you can save when you do. There are no fees charged for the privilege of using our website, and often, we will offer deals, exclusive packages, even discounts on last-minute rentals that will further increase the amount of money you save. Charging less for the same property you may have seen elsewhere is one of the top benefits to booking direct, enabling you to order dessert at every meal, spring for the high priced wine, or buy those colorful new ski goggles you saw at that cool boutique on your first day of your Colorado adventures. Other sites are just here to turn a profit, and they will not offer those extra deals.

Expecting your Steamboat Springs vacation to be a grand adventure is a good thing, and when you choose Grand Adventure Company for your accommodations, it will be a comfortable and convenient adventure as well. Offering the best Colorado has to offer in the most sought after communities in the region, guests will be able to experience the best of all worlds: warm and comfortable lodging, community amenities, and locations that are convenient to all the activities you want to participate in during your stay. Today, we want to take a peek into The Pines at The Ore House Steamboat community, revealing the amenities, the features, and everything that makes this community special, including the part where you choose our Grand Adventure Company escapes within!
Not So Long Ago
There is a fine line separating new and shiny and old and used up, which is why we often seek the newest vacation accommodations in the area. For even as we enjoy the craftsmanship and beauty of the historic, we need the modern conveniences and style of the new, and although The Pines at Ore House Plaza has been around since the late 90s, we think the community straddles the line between charming and modern with grace and style. Built in 1997, times were prosperous and those profits were channeled into construction, with the structures that line the streets of this community being built to stand the test of time. Resembling a cross between a Swiss ski chalet and all-American cabin, the structures stand out while still managing to blend into the landscape that surrounds, all the while offering a vibe that just makes residents and guests feel at home. Offering a key location, The Pines at Ore House Plaza can be found between the base of the ski area and the downtown area, which is bustling with shops and restaurants, ensuring that it won’t take you long to get to wherever you want to be and that you can walk to most places, even on the coldest and snowiest of days.

The Pines at Ore House Plaza Community Amenities
Once upon a time, travelers decided enough was enough and that they weren’t going to be satisfied with cramped hotel rooms and nonexistent amenities. They wanted more, and more is what The Pines at Ore House Plaza brings to their guests, offering a lovely selection of community amenities that are guaranteed to add to the shine of your Steamboat Springs vacation experience. Offering 1-, 2-, or 3-bedroom retreats, with each featuring quiet patios or balconies that appear to be sprouting from the trees that blanket the community, your stay in this community is destined to be one that feeds the soul and quiets the noises in your brain. During warmer days, a walk through the neighborhood brings joy as mature trees shade your ramblings, views of the mountains can be seen at every turn, and nature provides all manner of peaceful serenity and wonder. Two community hot tubs, tucked away in their own shelter located just down the path from your Pines retreat of choice, will bring relief to cold bones and aching muscles, giving visitors another serene way to end a day of Steamboat Adventures.

Cozy 1-Bedroom Love Nests
Your honeymoon, babymoon, or anniversary celebration will be that much sweeter when you choose the 1-bedroom Steamboat townhomes in The Pines at Ore House. Offering gas fireplaces for warmth and romance, large patios that overlook the mountains where you will play, and a cozy bedroom that is surprisingly spacious in comparison with the majority of 1-bedroom escapes, this sweet space will add to the romance of your mountain adventures. As mentioned earlier, the community offers a prime location, tucked into the natural landscape almost an equal distance from the hustle and bustle of downtown and the fun and excitement of Steamboat Ski Resort. Summer visitors may enjoy walking hand in hand to the shops and restaurants that make this area special, but if the weather is too cold or you are already too tired from a day on the slopes, you will be relieved to note that the free winter shuttle of Steamboat Springs makes regular stops at The Pines at Ore House Plaza. Smaller families can save a little money by choosing a 1-bedroom as most have beds and space for up to 4 guests.

Two Bedrooms Equal Twice the Fun
Up to 6 guests can enjoy a stay in their Pines at Ore House Plaza vacation retreat, with some of the 2-bedroom rentals providing a loft space that you know your children will want to claim as their own. The two bedroom escapes without that loft may feature an extra large bedroom furnished with bunk beds, which again, are another space your littles will claim, and as we don’t think parents are keen on sleeping in bunk beds, we doubt that you will protest too loudly! The fireplaces at The Pines are gas ones, something that is better for the environment and a lot easier to light, a fact that you will appreciate even more when you return from your day on the slopes, tired, wet, and chilled to the bone and you can turn on the fire with a flick of the switch. Fully equipped kitchens can ease the strain on a vacation budget, providing the opportunity to stay in and cook your own meals instead of being forced to dine out every night of your stay . And because each of the 2-bedroom rentals also offer two baths, it will almost feel like you have two ensuites, and adults, in most cases, will never have to share bath spaces with the kids. If you are traveling with children, be sure to read the room details section of the listing as some units offer only walk in showers and others offer tub/shower combos; we know that some little children only want to take baths.

Spacious and Charming 3-Bedroom Retreats
The 3-bedroom Pines at The Ore House Steamboat sanctuaries also offer as many baths as they do bedrooms, ensuring that morning traffic jams will be lessened as 6 guests will be sharing 3 baths. At least one bath will offer a tub/shower combo, so no need to worry about bathing the babies. Vaulted ceilings keep these large spaces looking even larger and windows that stretch from floor to ceiling in the open concept great rooms allow for views that you will wish you never had to stop viewing. Lush and verdant in the summer months, fiery and crisp in the fall months, and blanketed with snow in the dark days of windows, the views are ever changing but their beauty never changes. The three bedroom escapes may also offer a loft area peeking out over the main living quarters, with each owner determining how that extra space will be furnished. And because stairs can be a consideration when renting a Colorado sanctuary, the main primary suite with its attached bath may be found on the lower level of the property.

Amenities Make the Difference
Now that we have discussed the community amenities and given you a little bit of idea of what to expect in the spaces you will make your own, it is time to talk about the Grand Adventure Company amenities, the amenities that will instantly remind you of the Grand Adventure Company difference. Self-check-in allows the comfortable adventures to begin that much more quickly, eliminating any need to wait in lines or to make small talk with clerks when you are so obviously eager to get started on the fun. Details will be emailed or texted to you prior to check-in and keyless entry doors will also ensure that you won’t have to worry about losing or carrying around keys or key cards. Fireplaces are gas ones, easy to turn on and still providing all the warmth and romance as the wood burning ones, and the appliances in the kitchens will be updated and modern, making easy work of meal prep chores. The balconies and decks of each of our Steamboat townhomes will be furnished with places to sit and will offer a way to enjoy the fresh mountain air.

Modern Conveniences
While we are still talking about amenities, it is time to turn our attention to the electronics that grace the spaces of our 1-, 2-, and 3-bedroom Pines at Ore House Plaza retreats. Yes, internet is included, and we are always surprised when people have to ask, because that obviously means it isn’t considered standard in all vacation rentals. We may also include smart televisions in all the rooms, allowing guests to stream their favorite shows while showing our commitment to providing the most modern of conveniences. Appliances will be updated and include dishwashers because no one wants to do dishes on vacation, and bathrooms will also offer their own updated fixtures. Either a full-sized laundry room or a closet with stackable units inside will be offered, enabling guests to pack light and save room in their suitcases for treasures they may find during their shopping expeditions in Steamboat Springs. Coffee makers or Keurigs, toasters, and the occasional blender will be found in the kitchens, and many of our properties will offer quiet corners or cozy nooks furnished with office equipment, allowing hard working travelers to keep their eye on the office in between Steamboat Spring adventures.

The Difference Is Clear
No matter what community the Grand Adventure Company escape you choose is located in, you will immediately notice the difference, the importance we place upon experiences. We want our guests to be comfortable, of course, that shows in many ways, including the bedding we use, the furnishings we equip each place with, and even the linens we stock in our properties. But we want the experience to be one you never forget. We want you to want to stay in, to play to relax and our full service vacation experience includes the activities listed below, should you be interested!
Movie Nights with Your Favorite Traveling Partner
The state of the art television mounted to the walls of our living rooms will provide a movie theater like experience that will have you thinking twice about heading out into the elements on a cold and snowy night. Make some hot cocoa with all the tiny marshmallows, or brew up some coffee, making it Irish style for extra warmth and turn the lights off, the fireplace on and snuggle under a blanket as your favorite movies play on the screen. At Christmas, the Hallmark Channel is a popular one and even though you are living your own Hallmark movie moment, you will still appreciate the efforts the actors go through on television.

Game Nights with the Family
The dining rooms of our cozy and spacious condos offer more than just a place to enjoy the family meal. During your initial explorations you may notice a shelf or cabinet stocked with board games meant to be used during your stay, but you are, of course, free to bring you own. In either case, the dining rooms also work as gaming stations with each table surrounded by enough seats for everyone in your traveling party, often cushioned or padded for your continued comfort. Enjoy a second round of Monopoly and as you gather around the tables, staring out onto a nighttime landscape that is as stunning under the glow of the moon as it is under the fire of the sun, laughing and retelling the stories of your family while passing go and collecting your $200, your Steamboat Springs vacation in our Pines at Ore House Plaza Colorado sanctuaries will become the one in which the most magical memories are made!
