The Big Wow
Once the door opens to your fabulous summer sanctuary, open concept floor plans will ensure that you will be able to see everything with just one glance. But the problem may be tearing your eyes away from to wall of windows that take up a considerable amount of space along the back wall. On sunny days, light will stream through landing on the sofa with its plush depths, the fireplace that takes up a large portion of another wall, the kitchen waiting for someone to give it purpose, and the dining room table where so many family activities will take place, you will begin to wonder why the dining room isn’t actually considered the family room!
And even as you find yourself wanting to keep walking, to open the wood and glass doors that lead to the deck that covers the expanse of the house, there is so much more to see that we encourage you to wait just a little longer. Because once you step through those doors and the Colorado landscape envelopes you in a lush and verdant hug, it is going to take more than a few minutes to find the will to leave your spot in paradise and step back inside the door.
Summer Days are Meant for Leisure
Summer is a magical season for the children and the child inside of you will always remember those long, leisurely, and lazy days with a happy heart. Your summer in Steamboat Springs may be punctuated with hiking trips and fishing expeditions, shopping excursions and culinary explorations, but when you come home to Grand Adventure Company, it will be all about leisure. Taking a nap on a quiet Tuesday with doors wide open, ceiling fans whirring gently overhead, and the sounds of wind rustling the leaves of the trees that surround the home is always a good idea.
Pluck a book from the bookshelf and fall into that overstuffed chair in the corner tucked away between two windows and read as many chapters as you like. If it grows dark before you are ready to be finished we can assure you there will be a lamp placed next to the chair providing the light that will let you read on, losing yourself in the magic of the story as the sun sets, the moon rises, and your day of leisure turns into a night of more of the same!
Play Time is Important Too
Every day of real life is filled with long lists of things you have to do, but summer in Colorado is meant to be a time where your lists consist of things you really want to do. Turn off the tv, grab a game from the cabinet, and prepare to spend a few hours living life unplugged and interacting with those you love most in the best of ways.
Dads may want to start collecting jokes to tell, Moms will always have a family story to share, and the kids? Oh they will participate in all the ways, smugly winning games, groaning over the dad jokes, and rolling their eyes over the 100th (in their opinion) retelling of how they could climb before they could walk.
Some of your favorite moments, however, may take place in game rooms equipped with game tables, consoles, and arcade games, as Dad shows the kids his mad skills on Pacman and the teens find their happy place behind the joystick. Summer retreats may feature theater rooms with big screens and leather recliners or multiple large flat screened televisions placed throughout the house could be where movies are watched on stormy nights.
