3-Day Journey to Steamboat Springs

Not every traveler has the time for a week-long vacation, but you have learned over the years to make the most of shorter getaways as well, including the three-day adventure you are about to experience in Steamboat Springs. Offering fun, excitement, and comfort because you also learned to only stay in the best vacation rentals and you chose Grand Adventure Company for your sanctuary, you may not be able to do everything our mountain town has to offer, but you will get a wonderful idea of what may entice you to come back again. This guide for a weekend in Steamboat Springs will give you the tools you need to have an experience you will never forget.

Day 1: Outdoor Adventures

You are going to want to spend a lot of time outside in Steamboat, no matter what season you are visiting during, and so we are going to start the first day of your adventure with a hearty breakfast at Winona’s Restaurant & Bakery, 617 Lincoln Avenue. Offering the comfort food you crave, their Benedict menu features 8 different varieties including a Crab Benedict made with Maryland blue crab and cream cheese. We can promise you won’t leave hungry and will have plenty of energy for the adventures listed below.

Winter & Spring

As the champagne powder continues to fall on the slopes of Steamboat Ski Resort, your first day will probably be spent riding up the lifts and gliding down the mountain. Ski season in Steamboat Springs generally begins near Thanksgiving and ends about the middle of April, so you have plenty of time to get here and still enjoy a winter adventure.

Summer & Fall

So now that the snow has melted (or hasn’t yet begun to fall), it is time to explore all the other things Steamboat has to offer, and we think a guided fly fishing trip offered by Steamboat Fly Fisher will be the perfect opener for your three days in Colorado. Located at 655 Yampa St Unit C-2 and offering a variety of options, this first adventure will be fun for the entire family.

Day 2: Fun with Children

Our kids bring joy and happiness to our world, and during your Steamboat vacation, you have the opportunity to return the favor, maybe by taking them on a horseback ride on Saddleback Ranch. Located at 37350 Co Road 179, kids 6 & up can join in on this fabulous activity. The ranch offers 1- and 2-hour rides from May through October, although they do offer winter rides as well.

Winter and spring visitors, however, may want to explore all the fun that can be had with their Yee-Haw Snow Tubing adventure, offering a beautifully groomed hill and a state of the art tube lift system that will help keep the littles from getting too tired trekking back up the hill. This adventure also is offered in 1- and 2-hour time slots and may surprise you with how reasonable the cost is. Hungry after all the fun you had on the ranch? Dinner at Johnny B Good’s is ALWAYS an excellent idea, especially if you agree to a delicious milkshake for dessert!

Day 3: That Really Did Go By Quickly

game room

You knew it would be a quick trip in and out of Steamboat Springs, but hopefully you will be able to enjoy some of the amenities found in your Grand Adventure Company weekend escape during some free moments between adventures. The first meal of the day can be prepared in our fully equipped kitchens, as there is not a lot of work involved with scrambling eggs and popping bread in the toaster. And although your daytime moments may be filled with hikes, skiing, and visits to Old Town Hot Springs, your evenings can be spent playing games while gathered around the dining room table, watching movies on state of the art televisions, or even enjoying a family barbecue on a beautiful summer day. These moments will be the ones that will encourage you to come back again, when you have more time to explore and relax.

Your last night in town, however, is worthy of a special meal, and for that, we recommend a visit to Aurum Food & Wine, located at 811 Yampa Street and offering an international menu that includes coq au vin, Moroccan short rib, and pork mole Colaradito. For an authentic mountain experience, be sure to reserve a seat in the yurt during your winter visit, adding romance to your final meal of the weekend.
