Today, we at Grand Adventure Company want to talk about the dog days of Steamboat Boat Springs, an “event” that can take place at any time of the year and is sure to be an adventure that will delight your entire family. We are, of course, talking about bringing your favorite fur child along for the ride, showing them that they mean as much to you as you mean to them. This guide to a five-day pet friendly Steamboat Springs journey of fun and fur will be made more comfortable when you return home every night to one of our luxurious pet friendly vacation rentals!
Day 1: Save Room in Your Luggage
Just like when you travel with young children, traveling with dogs requires a lot of gear, and although you could pack everything you need in your suitcase, there are weight and luggage limits that could severely limit your shopping treasures when it comes time to return home. So, your first stop on your first day in town may be at Paws n’ Claws All Things Pet. This pet supply store provides everything from accessories to Yak Chews, so food, snacks, and warm sweaters during the winter season can be picked up during your shopping expedition at Paws n’ Claws. And to celebrate your first day in Steamboat, your precious pooch is welcome at Storm Peak Brewery & Tap Room, but not at their Bus Stop Taproom, which now sells their own pizza and doesn’t have a patio.
Day 2: Escape from Steamboat Springs
No, we aren’t suggesting you return home so soon after arriving, but we are suggesting that a visit to Crooked Key Escape Room, located at 435 Lincoln Avenue, may be a fantastic adventure in Steamboat Springs. Pet friendly and designed to puzzle, this escape room features three indoor games and one outdoor game, with the outdoor game being the pet friendly one. The mission of this game is a secret one that you won’t know until you show up to play, but just know it involves a 1-mile hike, and at least one member of your group will need to be able to carry a 12-pound pack. (NOT your dog!) Before this adventure begins, however, you might want to enjoy a hearty breakfast at the Creekside Café & Grill, where pets are welcomed on the patio.
Day 3: Fun for the Whole Family
Your four-legged child may not be the only child you are traveling with, so day three is designed for whole family friendly adventures, not just dog ones. Start out with a breakfast at Lil’ House Country Biscuits and Coffee, where comfort food reigns supreme and the biscuits could have been made by your Southern mama. With a full belly and a well caffeinated buzz, it is time to head over to Steamboat Fun & Games, offering toys, candy, and games. It is the arcade area, however, that will bring your family the most joy, and when you get your fill of fun, it may be time to dine again. Our next pet friendly restaurant, Hypnotic Chicken, specializes in chicken dishes and delicious cocktails, while offering a pet friendly patio your pooch will love.
Day 4: Shop ‘til You Drop, Play ‘til You Slay
Day four can go a couple of different ways; it just depends on your mood and how much you want to give your pet an adventure she won’t forget. You could spend today shopping, maybe heading back to Paws n’ Claws before exploring what shops like Ohana, Sunny’s Shades, and even the Steamboat Springs Farmers Market has to offer. On the other side of the coin, it can be a day of outdoor adventures that include a visit to the Rita Valentine Off-Leash Dog Park or a hike along the Yampa River Core Trail. Mythology Distillery offers a great way to end your fourth day in Steamboat Springs, offering a cocktail bar, restaurant, and a whiskey garden with a gigantic firepit as the center of attention!
Day 5: A Fireplace, a Movie, and a Warm Pup Curled in Your Lap
On your last day in our winter paradise, you may want to stay home and explore all the amenities of our Grand Adventure Company vacation escapes while sweet Sadie follows your every footstep. Maybe it will be a snowy day, and the warmth of a fire, the suspense of that murder mystery you are reading, and the cute little way your pup runs in his sleep will make this quiet but appealing day in the mountains one that will be remembered forever. Your time with Sadie will never be long enough, but you will always have the memories of the vacation you spent in Colorado to hold close to your heart.
