mountain and lake

Your next adventure takes you to another small town near Steamboat Springs, the town of Oak Creek, known for its idyllic small town charm, traditional Labor Day celebration, and for being home to Stagecoach State Park. Named for being a stop on the Stagecoach line that was once the only source of public transport, this park has a long history but was only opened as a park in 1989. Extending out over 1600 acres, the park includes a 771-acre reservoir located on the Yampa River and provides a family friendly experience for travelers and residents. Picnic tables are available and dogs are allowed, so pack a basket, clip a leash to your fur baby’s collar and prepare for a day of fun in this wonderful state park, nestled in the shadows of the Rocky Mountains!

Summer Adventures

boats

The park stays opens at 8 AM every day of the year and closes at 6 PM on weekends (including Fridays) and 5 PM on weekdays, so visitors will have plenty of time to enjoy all the adventures. A marina offers boat rentals allowing guests to fish from the water, reeling in record breaking catches on the best of days, and normal sized fish on the worst of days. The lake is calm and quiet, making it a paddleboarders paradise, but motorized boats add speed to your shenanigans and make wakeboarding a popular activity. Hiking, biking, swimming, wildlife watching, are more ways you can have fun at the park in the summer months.

Winter Fun

Just like the other parks we have been talking about, the fun doesn’t end in the winter, it just requires a little more clothing, as you snowshoe, cross country ski, and icefish for more trophy catches! And when your daytime adventures have come to an end, the park closes at 4 PM in the winter months, coming home to a roaring fire in your Grand Adventure Company seasonal retreat will offer the perfect ending to another beautiful day in paradise.
